ProQuest has just announced it has joined forces with De Gruyter to make De Gruyter’s 26,000 ebooks (from over 15 international imprints) available for purchase through the OASIS® system. This prompted us to revisit OASIS—ProQuest’s free web-based system for searching, selecting, and ordering print and electronic books for academic libraries—and provide a quick update on its growth.
Indended for academic, corporate, and government libraries, OASIS (Online Acquisitions and Selection Information System) supports multiple ordering and selection workflows for print and ebooks, including approval plans, firm orders, standing orders, demand driven acquisition, EDI ordering and MARC ordering. Earlier this year, the companies teamed to make titles from Ebook Library (EBL) available through Ingram’s OASIS® content platform. Ingram has now added ebrary‘s vast range of titles, integrating all ProQuest e-book titles within the platform, simplifying acquisition for the companies’ shared customers. In addition to adding titles to the OASIS platform for firm orders, EBL has also been integrated with Ingram’s e-book approval plans and Demand-Driven Acquisition (DDA) services. IPSWICH, Mass. January 15, 2013 EBSCO Publishing and Ingram today announced an agreement aimed at benefitting mutual customers of Ingram’s OASIS® (Online Acquisitions and Selection Information System) and eBooks on EBSCOhost®. The agreement will allow libraries to order eBooks on EBSCOhost through OASIS.
EBSCO is the first outside e-book provider to be incorporated into OASIS. “As libraries develop programs to meet the changing needs of their patrons, Ingram is uniquely positioned to help content reach its destination, regardless of whether that destination is the printed page or a digital device,” said Dan Sheehan, Vice President and General Manager, Ingram Content Group library services. “Through our work with EBSCO, OASIS users will have access to an expanded selection of digital content, and, the added flexibility to acquire materials that they and their patrons require from one comprehensive source.” Continue reading eBooks on EBSCOhost to be available via Ingram’s OASIS
