MINNEAPOLIS —Consortium Book Sales & Distribution, a brand of Ingram Publisher Services, announces five new publishers for the Spring 2017 season: Animal Media Group LLC, Cassava Republic Press, Hoxton Mini Press, Iron Circus Comics and Transit Books. All presses began distribution with Consortium on Jan. 1, 2017, with the exception of Animal Media Group, which began Sept. 1, 2016.
Consortium grew out of a small book wholesaling cooperative in 1985 to become a full-service distributor, earning a reputation as an advocate for independent publishers. Consortium now represents more than one hundred independent publishers from the United States, Canada, Europe, India, and Australia, enabling them to successfully reach the trade, library, and academic markets for their books. VitalSource, Ingram Content Group’s educational technology division, and Clever have announced that they are collaborating to reinforce security and convenience for K-12 users of VitalSource’s digital content delivery platform, Bookshelf®.
BookShelfallows students to access course materials on iPad, Android and Kindle devices, online or offline. Highlights include ability to move between pages and sections including linked Table of Contents; highlight text with one click in any color; add notes to highlighted passages; subscribe to classmates’ and instructors’ highlights and notes; scale images and text to any size; and customize page display.
According to the press release, VitalSource is incorporating technology from Clever to create “seamless and secure data integration between Bookshelf and a K-12 school’s or district’s student information system, all with single sign-on access.”
Ingram Publisher Services has just announced a joint agreement with NYU Press to provide full-service distribution. From the press release:

DUBLIN, Ohio, April 16, 2014OCLC is working with Ingram, one of the world’s largest distributors of physical and digital content, to set and maintain holdings for e-books in WorldCat automatically, saving library staff valuable time and effort.
I attended the 2013 ALA Annual Conference in Chicago and have several updates on eBook vendor offerings, initiatives, and activities. Vendors and initiatives are listed in alphabetical order. IPSWICH, Mass. January 15, 2013 EBSCO Publishing and Ingram today announced an agreement aimed at benefitting mutual customers of Ingram’s OASIS® (Online Acquisitions and Selection Information System) and eBooks on EBSCOhost®. The agreement will allow libraries to order eBooks on EBSCOhost through OASIS.

Just received this press release from Ingram about textbooks. I can’t help but wonder if this will be the future of textbooks – wrapped in a course fee so that all students have access to the course materials. Coventry is providing these materials at no cost to students for their first year. No word on what the upper level course fees will be.
