Mission Bell Media launches

Very pleased to see a good colleague of mine (and the first person brave enough to do an interview with me for NSR back in 2008) launch his own digital media company – Mission Bell Media.  The web site is beautiful and worth a look and a read, as I’m sure the content will be as well.  More from the press release below.

Just launched: Mission Bell Media

At the intersection of leadership and librarianship

“A true leader has the confidence to stand alone, the courage to make tough decisions, and the compassion to listen to the needs of others.” — Douglas MacArthur

Santa Barbara, CA (Tuesday, April 29, 2014) — Rolf Janke, who has over 35 years experience in the academic publishing industry, has recently launched a new publishing venture: Mission Bell Media (MBM), with the vision of providing leadership-focused print and digital resources for librarians and their community.

Publishing relevant, engaging and inspiring reference content on the best of leadership across the disciplines, helping readers achieve success by learning from those who have already succeeded, Mission Bell Media understands the importance of librarians and their ability to lead the way for others. This fresh perspective on leadership is at the heart of MBM, which will introduce its first titles in the spring of 2015 with two different lines of offerings:

  •  MBM Leadership Reference — Single-volume, concise leadership reference guides for academic and public library markets
  • MBM Leadership in the Library Series — Innovative, relevant and affordable titles specifically for librarians in any library setting

Mission Bell Media founder Rolf Janke brings extensive experience to this new venture, including being Founder and Vice President/Publisher of SAGE Reference, an imprint of SAGE Publications, Inc, where he created an award-winning academic reference publishing program. He was also VP/Publisher at ABC-CLIO, Editorial Director for Blackwell Publishers, and Executive Editor at International Thomson.

“At Mission Bell Media, we are a company that is all about listening, learning and doing, which I believe will translate into very relevant publications with a leadership theme for librarians,” commented Rolf Janke, Mission Bell Media Founder and CEO. “A single driven focus on leadership may seem narrow to some, but for MBM, it’s the portal to uncover the vast interdisciplinary perspectives, issues and discussions that every leader and aspiring leader wants to be connected with.”

“Launching Mission Bell Media is a true adventure for me,” he continued. “I’m excited to use my expertise and experience to gauge the pulse of leadership studies and then, use that information to fulfill the diverse needs of the market. With these focused new MBM resources, librarians and their communities will recognize that the leadership conversation starts here.”
