@ ALA Annual Conference
The Book Industry Study Group will host a program the Friday before the ALA Conference in Chicago. You need not be registered for ALA to attend this program, but obviously it’s encouraged. The program, “The Changing Standards Landscape: Creative Solutions to Your Information Problems” will focus on standards, business models, and workflow issues with eBooks.
Many of the existing standards, workflows and business models for print books need to be reconsidered in an e-book environment. Are you ready?
The market for e-books has expanded rapidly in the past year and the release of new readers, along with the ever increasing amount of new content, makes it likely this growth will continue. This FREE, 3rd annual standards forum, co-hosted by BISG and the National Information Standards Organization (NISO), will provide a big-picture look at the development and impact of common e-book standards, along with a discussion of the pain points that persist.
Segmented to focus on the different stages of creation, distribution, and use, this forum will touch on critical areas of identification, formatting, DRM, and the specific use needs of libraries.
